TEN SIGNS YOUR MATE IS CHEATING

While it is easy to read a list and mark off things that your partner may be doing, you should keep in mind that just because some of these things may be occurring, it does not necessarily mean the person is actually cheating. They may either be experiencing some type of trauma in their life that they are trying to deal with, or, preparing to cheat, or simply preparing to end the relationship they are having with you (and not having an affair.)

Behaviors and actions are sometimes deceiving. For example, when someone is contemplating suicide, they sometimes become “relieved” or “happy”, and then begin giving things of importance of theirs to others. This is not what we typically think of when we think of someone who is suicidal. We think of depression, sulking, isolating ones self, and maybe spending all of their money (instead of giving it away to their friends and family), etc. However, for some people, when they have come to the decision of suicide, it is a “relief” for them, and they want to give items of importance of theirs to others, as a sort of gesture of love or kindness. The point it, just because there are signs that someone is cheating doesn’t mean they are, just like someone being depressed may not automatically indicate they are suicidal.

1. FINANCES: Sudden changes in habits with money, such as new bank accounts, unusual spending, not letting you see the bills, secret credit cards, etc.

2. WORK: Changes in work, including working late when they normally don’t or wouldn’t, sudden “short business trips” (especially short over-night trips.)

3. ATTITUDE: Changes in attitude towards you, such as anger, remorse, defensiveness, etc. For example, being very defensive about being questioned.

4. PHONE: Buying a new cell phone, changing current cell phone codes, throwing away the bills, or not allowing you to use their phone.

5. APPEARANCES: Increase in caring about their appearance, such as loosing weight, working out, wearing new cologne, or changing hairstyles.

6. COMPUTER: Blocks your access to passwords, seems to be on the Internet more than usual, deleting the “history”, and general unusual computer behavior or activity.

7. CLEANING: Suddenly cleaning the car, cleaning out pockets of clothes, washing own clothes, emptying the trash (such as at a car wash), and, in general, “cleaning” when not necessary (or typical) for that person.

8. SEX: Unusual changes in sexual behavior or activity. Typically, the cheater will avoid sex with their partner if they are having an affair, but studies have shown that cheaters (and pornography) can also INCREASE the level of sexual activity between partners.

9. LACK OF INTEREST: Either lack of interest in you, the family, work, the house, or anything that the person normally has or had shown a great deal of interest in. It may not be exclusive to you, but also “their life” in general, such as church, family gatherings, working on house projects, their career, etc.

10. LIES: In general, a cheater must begin to create lies to cover their tracks. These lies may be about anything, and seem trivial (at first.) Lies build upon lies. They become more and more difficult to remember (story from story, facts from fiction, etc.)
